About
A gaunt figure in the burned remains of choir vestments, jaw bound shut with wire that does nothing to stop the song. The dirge pours out of it anyway — a low, grinding note that makes candle flames lean — and each phrase gathers into a lash of violet sound.
The Ashen Choir takes its name from these: the cathedral singers who were mid-hymn when Deepcourt was swallowed, and never received permission to stop. The cult found them still singing in the dark centuries later and built its liturgy around them. Their dirge is the oldest recording of the city's death — sung by the victims, conducted by no one.
