A pale, beautiful figure from the waist up and a coil of glistening fins below, perched on a weed-slick rock. Her voice carries impossibly far across the water, and her smile shows just a few too many teeth.
Tide sirens nest among the wrecks they themselves have made, luring crews onto the reefs with songs no sailor can resist. When the hull splinters, they slip into the water to take the drowning at their leisure — and turn their drowning-song on any who come seeking the lost.
